Rip Curl was founded in 1969 by Doug "Claw" Warbrick and Brian "Sing Ding" Singer in Torquay, Victoria. Rip Curl Wetsuits was established to provide an alternative brand for short-board surfing. Rip Curl sponsors numerous surfing competitions like the Rip Curl Pro. The competition raised the profile of the brand enormously Australia-wide.
