Konasports... The number one surf shop in New Jersey

In 1969, Mike Sciarra started constructing surfboards in the family garage in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. Mike had a fond love for the ocean that continues to this day. He started surfing when he was 12 and you can still find him riding the waves at the Jersey Shore. Mike attended the University of Hawaii and earned a degree in business, which has helped his surf shop flourish. Mike also learned the art of shaping and glassing surfboards from the masters who lived at the North Shore. The original Kona was opened a year later in 1970 as a small surf shop. Surfboards were shaped and glassed in the rear and sold out front.

The surf boards are no longer made in house, but the business has grown immensely from a small surf shop in south Jersey to the number one surf shop on the east coast. To be the best Konasports had to team up with big surf companies that people respect and trust, so they have partnered with: Billabong, Quiksilver, Hurley, Dakine, Roxy and Rip Curl; just to name a few.
